  • Problems with Discussion Postings in Internet Explorer (Friday, November 6, 2009)
We have just been become aware today of a problem with the way Internet Explorer (both versions 7 and 8) handles discussion postings in Blackboard.  If you have a lengthy discussion post or reply, it is possible that you may not see all of your message when you submit it.  For some reason, Blackboard is visually truncating part of longer messages in Blackboard.  While the entirety of the message is still there, you may not be seeing all of it.

This may also mean that if a classmate has a long post, you conceivably may not see the end of the message.  While the content has not been lost, it is possible that both you and your instructor may not see the whole message if either of you are using Internet Explorer.

We have submitted this bug report to Blackboard, and are working with them to resolve this as immediately as possible.  In the meantime, the best solution to ensure that you see the entirety of every discussion post is to use FireFox (http://mozilla.com to download it if you do not have it)as your browser instead of Internet Explorer until we are able to resolve this issue.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, and we are working to resolve it as soon as possible
